Another day on the job
I tried, I gave what I’ve got
The songs were keeping me safe
But now they’re breaking the locks
And my relationship’s toxic
There’s some lanes to be crossed
But when we’re faced with the option
We just stay in the car
And there’s a certain Mammalian
Not an elk or an ox
I think they call it a brocket
In the Yucatán
And you can try to move on,
And you can cry if you want
But at the break of the dawn, oh
You’ll just stay in the car
Yeah, you’ll just stay in the car
Whatever you want me to say, I’ll say it right now
This honesty policy isn’t working, I’ve found
But you were so fond of me back in ‘72
And now I can’t help but remember hearing what you… said…
You said you loved the show
And you’d come back again
You’re gonna come around on Sunday with your actor friends
I’m glad you had the chance
And now my chest is tense
You can get caught up in a moment and it never ends
And it never ends
And it never ends
Another day on the job
I tried, I gave what I’ve got
The songs were keeping me safe
But now they’re breaking the locks
And my relationship’s toxic
There’s some lanes to be crossed
But when we’re faced with the option
We just stay in the car
And there’s a certain Mammalian
Not an elk or an ox
I think they call it a brocket
In the Yucatán
And you can try to move on,
And you can cry if you want
But at the break of the dawn, oh
You’ll just stay in the car
Yeah, you’ll just stay in the car

Imagine driving down the street in a Honda Accord
You’re gonna love the grip, you’re gonna love the torque
And you’ll love-a the feel of the wheel on your hands
And you’ll love-a the coverage, contingency plan
Imagine driving down the street with the one you love
You’re gonna lower the seat, you’ve got that company trust
‘Cause at Honda, we promise that nothing is wrong
So just open your pockets and purchase a car
Imagine driving down the street in a Honda Accord
Pull into Home Depot, to get some home decor
For that house up in northerly Maine where you stay
But you hear that there might be a blizzard today
Imagine driving down the street with your wife and kids
You really made it now, it’s been your life for this
But yet suddenly, you’re paralyzing with fear
And you realize now that you just hit a deer
And your wife looks at you with a mysterious face
And your kids they ask you what is wrong?
And your wife says, “Here, honey, play with my phone”
“Why don’t you and your brother play some Temple Run?”
And she fiddles with the door, and she gets out of the car
And she asks you "What the hell’s taking you so long?"
And you try your best, muster up a response
And she says, this is the twenty-second time this month
I swear to God, every drive, you’ll be hitting a deer
Swear to God, that they might go extinct this year
But every time, that they die, I have to clean up the blood
And every time, you put the blame on your Honda Accord
And I’m just so fed up, with the venison
I thought that I was in love, and well, I guess that I was
And well, I guess that I was
So I won’t be the one to assuage your fears
The road of Accord is… paved in tears
But I guess that there might be a lesson I learned
As I drive through the ashes of bridges I’ve burned
Imagine driving down the street in a Honda Accord
You’ve got to get a grip, ‘cause it’s a long way toward
Any meaningful way to make peace with your soul
I just pray every day that you’re watching the road
Imagine driving down the street in a Honda Accord
You’re gonna love the grip, you’re gonna love the torque
And you’ll love-a the feel of the wheel on your hands
And you’ll love-a the coverage, contingency plan
Imagine driving down the street with the one you love
You’re gonna lower the seat, you’ve got that company trust
‘Cause at Honda, we promise that nothing is wrong
So just open your pockets and purchase a car

Benny's Big Break
01:32
|
|||
Now, see, not a lot of people know this - I was Benny’s manager, back in the day. People like to say, sure, the Hondathon Sales Event - that was what really did him in, but that sort of flippancy was kind of his whole thing from the get-go. And by that I mean, he was, you know, an asshole.
I met him in high school. We were in a band together called um, Benny and the BOO!!!!, you know, like what ghosts say, ‘cause, you know, he had a real fascination with the macabre at the time. But, you know, obviously that didn’t work out, but he kept me around, ‘cause I was willing to go along with his ridiculous antics, you know.
So right after graduation, he went off, and, uh, he became a novelty songwriter for funerals and the like, by the name of DJ Funester. And I remembered this - he got one gig, for this family up in Massachusetts, this lady and her son. See, this old geezer - her husband, I’m sorry - he had just, you know, done his thing - and, you know, they thought Benny was a classical musician or something, that he was gonna compose something tasteful for the old man.
And, well, he didn’t.
Patrick Bibblebury Adams. That was the old guy’s name. I dunno why I still remember that, but, there you go. Father, friend, and frolicker, that’s how they described him. Fuckin’ Benny. What a world.

Dear Mr. Adams
02:39
|

Mr. Adams’ life was awesome
Tragic that he passed
But we know that he was Catholic
So, yeah, he’s moving on
He leaves behind a son
With a vision that surpassed him
Cause when his daddy passed
He commissioned him a song
Yeah, we know what’s going on
Everybody, come on, hands in the sky!
I know that being with family, yeah, it always hurts
So here’s a shoutout to everybody within the church
And I don’t eulogize often, so yeah, I won’t be curt
Today I won’t be curt
No, I hope that we learn
He was driving on a Jetski, it was almost one A.M.
And he went onto a ramp
Got some leverage and he went
Should’ve seen that geezer send
Got a twenty-second airtime
He was driving to impress
Lovely wife, her name was Beth (Beth smiles)
Once he hit the water
That’s when things got more intense
There’s a shark, a hammerhead
Didn’t get the chance for breakfast
And this what he said
“Mr. Adams, you’re delicious” (chomp, chomp, chomp)
“Mr. Adams, you’re delicious” (chomp, chomp, chomp)
(One, two, three--)
‘Cause your father’s life was awesome
Tragic that he passed
But we know that he was Catholic
So, yeah, he’s moving on,
He leaves behind a son
With a vision that surpassed him
Cause when his daddy passed
He commissioned him a song
Yeah, we know what’s going on
